The Sandwich Tern Project
In 1997 five Sandwich Terns were trapped at one attempt on the Falsterbo Peninsula.
One of these was ringed in Estonia and another at Rügen on the Baltic coast of Germany.
This was the beginning of a study of the Sandwich Tern at Falsterbo. The study started then in the summer of 1999. Project leader is
Peter Olsson, Lund.

Aims of the project:

How far from the breeding grounds do Sandwich Terns disperse before regular autumn migration?

Do "families" (adults and juveniles) keep together during post-breeding dispersal?

Do the same birds use the same resting sites from year to year?

Moult studies. Is moult pattern useful for ageing?

Growth in fledged juveniles.
